The Second Date of the Triple Corona Santa Teresa
This Sunday March 23rd we had the second date of the Triple Corona Santa Teresa. The event was organized by the Asociacion de Sur de Santa Teresa and presented by Oneill.
This tournament seeks to add more dates to the surf tournaments in the Nicoya area. The idea is to give competitive spaces for our surfers to be in optimal conditions for the national and international circuit events.
The event
Besides the competitive aspect, the tournament had another very important motive: All the money collected from the registration will be used to finance the Santa Teresa surf team’s trips to national surfing events.
The registration fee for the tournament was $20 if you registered before the day of the tournament. If you registered the same day it was 40 US dollars.
We started the activities at 7:00 a.m. in Playa El Carmen, between Santa Teresa and Mal Pais. A beach that has become traditional for these events.
The musical accompaniment was provided by Seletress Night Nurse, a native DJ from Santa Teresa whose specialty is reggae.
One of the categories for the competition were SUB 12 in bogieboard and mixed longboard. Meanwhile the U16, U18, Open and Master categories were divided between male and female.
The Triple Crown winners
Before we talk about the first places in all categories, we have to thank from the bottom of our hearts all the participants of the tournament.
It is thanks to you that we can move forward with these projects.
We would also like to thank the attendees who spiced up the competition with their cheers and their presence.
In the men’s open category the winner was Anthony Fillingim. Anthony is one of the most representative surfers of Santa Teresa.
In the women’s open we have Ericka Berra, who always visits us from Puerto Viejo, Limon.
For the Men’s Masters we had Andy Seidensticker at the top of the podium. Andy is a well known surfboard manufacturer from the Mal Pais area.
Kymani Montoya won in the SUB 18 category. A young boy but with a lot of international experience behind him.
Meanwhile Mario Sacchetti won in SUB 16 male, Vicente Sasson in gromets (SUB 12), Gustavo Tenorio in longboard and Jefferson Calderon in boggieboard did so in their respective categories.
